Bus Ministry
The purpose of the church is to bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to disciple them so that they might reach others. One of the most effective tools we have for reaching unchurched children and their families is the bus ministry.
Second Baptist Church has operated its bus ministry since 1971. From the very first Sunday that a bus was sent out to pick up boys and girls for Sunday School, our commitment and devotion to even the smallest members of our community has been unwavering. The bus ministry is seen by many to be out-of-date and undesired in a church setting today. We feel differently. It is our honor to welcome any and all who desire to ride our buses to our Sunday morning services.
Each Saturday morning, our faithful bus workers go out on their routes, visiting their current riders and seeking new prospects. The buses run on Sunday morning, bringing riders to both Sunday School and Morning Worship. Preschool and elementary-age riders participate in a Children’s Church appropriate to their grade level. Teenagers and adult riders join the rest of the congregation in the auditorium for the main service. Afterwards, each rider is escorted safely and efficiently to their door by our bus workers.
Second Baptist Church currently runs five routes throughout most of southern Jefferson County. Below is a listing of the areas in which each route travels:
Route #1-Crystal City
Route #3-De Soto/Olympian Village
Route #4-Hillsboro/Horine
Route #5-Herculaneum/Pevely
Route #6-Festus
If transportation is needed to come to our church, please contact us anyway. We will do our best to secure a ride for you. Wherever you live, we want to hear from you. Please, send us your information in the contact form below, and the appropriate bus captain will respond as soon as possible. Our buses always have room for more people. We hope that you will ride one of them soon to our services!
